Trained Rebreather divers in the English Channel
Rebreather courses & Technical Training at Deep Blue Tech
conducted by Richard Stevenson.

Richard was trained in the mid -90's by Instructor Trainers such as Tom Mount, John Orlowski, Kevin Gurr and David Thompson. Richard gained his qualifications after years of exploratory diving and relies on this experience when running Technical level courses.
In turn Richard has been responsible for training Instructors since 1998 and continues to do so on a regular basis.
Training is very important at this level and Richard feels that his personal experiences can make a difference to the abilities of an individual diver as well as maintaining safety.

Our attitude to safety and quality of training was best summed up recently by a student enrolled on a Rebreather training course

''Dear Rich,
I would like to thank you for everything this week. Your approach to training is perfect.
You offer training that only a diver with your experience can supply and that cannot be improved upon. I wish you all the very best of luck with your new boat and I am sure you will make it a success.
I look forward to the next opportunity to dive with you again.''

If you enrol on a Deep Blue Diving Course you will be getting personal attention as well as an informative and relevant training schedule.

At Deep Blue all the training is carried out to be as realistic and relevant to the type of diving you will be doing after your training

The aim of the IANTD Module 1 CCR course is to introduce safe diving procedures for using Closed Circuit rebreathers

At Deep Blue we were one of the first companies to offer CCR training and our safety record and satisfied customers speak for themselves.
As with all our training programs we pride ourselves on teaching from experience and no other piece of equipment demands this approach more than a CCR. The course lasts 5-6 days of which we spend 6-8 hours in Open Water and 2 hours in the pool if training in the Winter time here in the UK.
Theory takes place in and around the diving to maximise time in the water. Being based by the Sea makes this easy and stress free. If the weather isn't playing we even have our own 16m deep fresh water quarry we can use.
The prerequisite for this course is Advanced Nitrox diver but if you haven't completed this prior to taking the CCR training you can do it at the same time or even take the Advanced Recreational Trimix Training Course for an additional £295
Please contact us for more information on how to do this.

Skills that we teach on the course are:

Solenoid failure drills.
Electronics failure
DSMB deployment
Open circuit bail out and mouthpiece drills
Open circuit bailout drills
Hypercapnia control
Semi Closed Circuit mode
Cell verification and linearity checks

& much more !! As you will find out.

Rebreather training at Deep Blue

lus a comprehensive electronics workshop including cell removal and checks with solenoid strip down.

We may be able to provide units for you to train on should you wish to 'try before you buy', please contact us directly at the dive centre to discuss your requirements.

CCR Crossover training courses available.

If you are already CCR trained and wish to use another CCR then you will need a 3-4 day training Course for the unit you are crossing over to

£400 for 3 day air diluent Cross-over course to the Megalodon from Electronic CCR, i.e. Inspiration
£600 for 4 day air diluent Cross-over course to the Megalodon from manual CCR, i.e. Kiss.

For the Mixed Gas Cross-over course please contact us directly so we can assess your needs more accurately and offer the best program possible.

4 day £650 CCR Module 2 Course which is equivalent to Entry Level Trimix on Open Circuit.

Above; Closed Circuit rebreather training at Deep Blue Diving

This course runs along the same lines as the Entry Level Trimix course and all skills are the same as CCR level 1. There is no need to have completed any Trimix Training on Open Circuit prior to this course and as long as you have 40 hours on the unit you wish to train on you can enrol on the course which will give you 60m max depth certification limits.

The most common mistake divers undertaking Module 2 training make is to not have sufficient ascent and decompression time on their units whilst using 2 stages.

It is imperative that your buoyancy is near perfect before entering this training course as the decompression times can be up to 60 minutes long and all the skills are done mid water. If you put the time in before entering this course you will get far more out of the 4 days and stand a much better chance of success.

For the CCR Trimix course divers will need to bring 2 side mounted stages with 02 clean regulators and a suit inflation system.

Equipment is exactly the same as the other Trimix diver programs.

3-4 day CCR Module 3 course which is equivalent to Advanced Trimix on Open Circuit.

This course lasts 3 days if you have Module 2 CCR Certification through us and costs £450 or 4 days and £650 if trained elsewhere.

This is the final step on the CCR Trimix Training ladder and we don’t dodge the issue on this course as we make 2 dives to 75m for final qualification. In all you will make 3 trimix dives on this course and 2 Skills dives and the skills are exactly the same as Module 1 and Module 2 just we do things a little deeper!
Please note that all training can take place from a variety of locations, so the course prices include training, manuals and certification only.

Extra costs will be advised once you have decided where you wish to train.

We primarily use our new boat 'Ocean Venture' for our training courses as she affords us the perfect platform for teaching our courses.

We also use Underwater Video Camera for playback debriefs on all training programs and will be introducing new through water comms in 2009.

We have found that students respond better to input from the debrief when they can actually see what they are doing.
By using our fast RIB 'Ocean Venture' we can get back from the dives quickly to playback the footage immediately after the dive.

So far the feedback we have had has been very positive and divers have found the video debriefs constructive and useful, especially for equipment configuration

'Ocean Venture' has been built new in 2008 with Sport and Technical Diving in mind and we can get offshore to dive sites much more quickly making training logistics easier an giving students more valuable feedback time rather than rolling around at Sea all day.
